The Institute for Democratic Transition (ICDT) held a conference on Tuesday at the Stefánia Palace – Honvéd Cultural Centre to present the results of a research project commissioned by the Ministry of Defence, titled “The establishment and functioning of democratic political and civilian control over the Hungarian Defence Forces from 1990 to the present day.”
The findings were presented by Ambassador and Professor István Gyarmati, Vice Chair of the ICDT Board of Trustees. The symposium featured keynote speeches by Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő and Lieutenant General Zoltán Mihócza, Chief of Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces Command (MHP).
